The Winnipeg International Writers Festival (WIWF) has been awarded a 2019 Share-Present Grant.

This grant will support readings by Manitoba authors at THIN AIR, a week-long celebration of books and ideas, as well as two off-season initiatives, Speaking Crow Poetry Open Mic and special First Fridays programming in the Exchange.

THIN AIR 2019 will run from September 22nd to 30th and will feature around 50 writers, at least a quarter of them from Manitoba. Featured writers share work in a myriad of genres—fiction, poetry, non-fiction, graphica, spoken word, drama.

“We believe that stories are at the heart of human understanding, which means that writers can literally transform culture and impact the world, one story/mind at a time. After 22 years, we’re thrilled to say that THIN AIR is celebrated here in Winnipeg, and respected across the country (and abroad!), for its creative curation, its diverse voices, and its warm prairie hospitality.”
– Charlene Diehl, Director of the Winnipeg International Writers Festival, Share-Present grant recipient

WIWF is dedicated to supporting the local, national, and international artists who share their talent and dreams, and to connect them with children and adults, English and French, urban and rural, who will be inspired, challenged, and engaged by their stories.
