Privacy Policy & Use of Personal Information Notice

This Privacy Policy & Use of Personal Information Notice describes the Manitoba Arts Council (MAC)’s privacy practices as they relate to personal information. Any personal information you provide to MAC through its websites and online application system is managed in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Collection of personal information

MAC collects personal information in various waysi under the authority of section 36(1)(b) of The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

This includes, but is not limited to, when you:

  • create a profile in Manipogo (MAC’s online application system);
  • submit grant applications;
  • make nominations for prizes; or
  • assume the role of an assessor.

Use of Personal Information

The personal information that you share with MAC may be used to:

  • determine your eligibility to apply for funding;
  • contact you concerning your application or nomination;
  • assess your application;
    • When assessing your application, assessors will see your name, your resume or CV, and all information provided in the application. Assessors will not see any information provided as part of the Voluntary Identification section of your profile.
  • identify you as a potential peer assessor;
  • generate mailing lists for the dissemination of MAC publications, surveys, events, and other information;
  • plan, evaluate, and review granting programs and prepare statistical reports, studies, and trend analysis;
    • The information you provide in the Voluntary Identification part of your profile is collected to ensure that our granting reflects the full diversity of Manitoba as a province. This information will only be published in aggregate form and cannot be traced back to any individual.
  • collaborate with a federal, provincial, territorial, or municipal government, partners, authorized third-party service providers for the purpose of research, analysis, and policy development;
  • report under the Income Tax Act;
    • If you receive more than $500 from MAC in a fiscal year, MAC collects your Social Insurance Number (SIN) for the purposes of issuing T4A slips for your income reporting. The SIN and other information are shared with the Canada Revenue Agency as per tax reporting regulations.
  • make payments via electronic funds transfer (EFT/direct deposit);
    • Your banking information is needed to enable direct deposit and is collected for these purposes.

Third Parties

MAC may rely on third party service providers to supply limited services that require them to collect, create, use, disclose, or store information on behalf of MAC.

Third party service providers are not permitted to use your information for any purpose other than delivering the services that have been requested by MAC, within the guidelines and authorization provided by MAC.

Links to Third Party Sites

The MAC websites, social media channels, and grant application system may contain links to third party websites and content. The linked sites are not under the control of MAC and MAC is not responsible for the contents of any such linked sites.

MAC is also not responsible for how your information is collected, used or retained on third party sites, all of which will be subject to the owner’s terms, conditions, and policies. It is your responsibility to carefully review those terms, conditions, and policies when visiting such linked sites. No link to a third party site shall be deemed an endorsement from MAC.

Information you provide MAC directly:

  • When signing up to join MAC’s mailing list on the artscouncil.mb.ca website;
  • When creating an Artist Listing on the artistsinschools.ca website;
  • When filing out the Contact Form on artscouncil.mb.ca;
  • When booking a meeting with a consultant;
  • When registering for a virtual meeting, information session, or webinar; and
  • When completing a survey;
  • When replying to a Request for Proposal or Request for Qualifications, or employment opportunity.

Information about you collected indirectly:

  • When you are a member of a group that has a profile in Manipogo, but you are not the primary contact;
  • When you are listed as a collaborator in a grant application;
  • When you are nominated for a prize;
  • When you are listed as the school contact for a Share – Artists in Schools project;
  • When you are an employee or board member for an organization that is applying for a grant.
