Evin Collis – 2014 Deep Bay Artists’ Residency

Evin holds a BFA from the Ontario College of Art & Design and has completed an internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy. He lives in Winnipeg, where he divides his time between working on the railroad and making art.

Residency project

While in Riding Mountain, Evin plans to wander through the park, by canoe and on foot, to scout out areas of interest to sketch and photograph. The images captured during these excursions will then inform his work as he begins a new series of large oil paintings. These paintings will examine Canada’s relationship with history, colonialism, industry, and the physical environment.
