The Manitoba Arts Council honoured internationally acclaimed ceramic artist and potter, Robert Archambeau as the tenth recipient of the prestigious Manitoba Arts Award of Distinction with a special celebration on Thursday, May 15th at the Winnipeg Arts Gallery.
The artist’s family and friends, fellow artists, University colleagues and students gathered for the event in recognition of Archambeau’s contribution in the field of ceramics. The Winnipeg Art Gallery created a special display of Robert Archambeau’s art work as part of the celebration. Keith Bellamy (Chair, Manitoba Arts Council):
“The Manitoba Arts Award of Distinction is given in recognition of the extraordinary difference the arts can make in a community, as well as the imagination and courage it takes to see the world with fresh eyes, and to share that vision with others. Robert Archambeau joins a prestigious group of alumni whose legacy to the arts reaches far beyond Manitoba; J. Roger Léveillé, William Eakin, Roland Mahé, Dr. Robert Turner, Aganetha Dyck, Guy Maddin, Grant Guy, Robert Kroetsch, and Leslee Silverman.”
