Diana Thorneycroft – Major Arts Grant 2012

Diana Thorneycroft has exhibited various bodies of work across Canada, the United States, Europe, as well as in Moscow, Tokyo, and Sydney. Since 2005 she has been making photographs that focus on Canadian history and identity. Thorneycroft’s series “Group of Seven Awkward Moments” has been exhibited at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, Carleton University Art Gallery, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, The Reach Museum Gallery (Abbotsford), the Art Gallery of Windsor and the Canadian Cultural Centre in Paris. Her current exhibition “A People’s History” has been shown at the Art Gallery of Calgary, Art Mûr (Montreal) and the Art Gallery of Regina.

My American Experience: Gazing Across the Border

Thorneycroft will be producing a series of images that embrace and critique American popular culture from the 60’s to the 80’s. Upon completion the work will be premiered at the Fabien Castanier Gallery in Los Angeles.
