The Manitoba Arts Council (MAC) is an arm’s-length agency of the Province of Manitoba, established in 1965 to “promote the study, enjoyment, production and performance of works in the arts.”

MAC distributes approximately $12 million annually in grants to Manitoba artists, collectives, and arts and cultural organizations, supporting a vibrant and diverse arts sector for the benefit of Manitobans.

Position Summary

The Manitoba Arts Council is seeking a Program Consultant to join its programs team. This position serves as the lead for MAC’s Indigenous 360 grant program and contributes to the delivery and administration of MAC’s full suite of grant programs. The successful candidate will join a team of five Program Consultants who report to the Director of Granting and collaborate with MAC’s staff team of fifteen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of MAC’s Indigenous 360 program
  • Support the delivery and facilitation of other MAC grant programs
  • Provide guidance to applicants and prospective applicants navigating MAC’s granting processes
  • Deliver information sessions and conduct outreach related to MAC programs
  • Travel occasionally within Manitoba to engage with artists, organizations, and communities
  • Review grant applications for eligibility
  • Recruit and assemble peer assessment panels
  • Facilitate peer assessment panel discussions
  • Provide constructive feedback to applicants, including those who are not funded
  • Participate in internal review and evaluation processes
  • Contribute to program development, adaptation, and continuous improvement
  • Maintain knowledge of Manitoba’s arts and cultural sector
  • Maintain knowledge of Manitoba’s Indigenous communities
  • Liaise with local, provincial, and national partners on areas of shared interest

  • Demonstrated experience and achievement in the arts, culture, or a related field

  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong computer and administrative skills
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and respectfully
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Assets

  • Proficiency in French (spoken and/or written)
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s licence

Eligibility and Conditions of Employment

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Applicants must be First Nations, Métis, or Inuit

Compensation

This is a full-time position with a salary range from $65,038 to $78,482 annually.

MAC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in the Manitoba Civil Service Superannuation Board (pension plan) and extended health benefits. This position is covered under MAC’s collective agreement with the Manitoba Government Employees Union (MGEU).

Work Location and Schedule

This position is based onsite at MAC’s office in Winnipeg. Regular working hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work is required for meetings, information sessions, and public events.
