Two newly released reports — an economic impact study and public poll — show how vital and powerful arts and culture are to Manitobans’ well-being and to our economic growth.

Released at the Manitoba Arts Council Annual Public meeting on October 20, 2025, key findings include:

  • $1.75 billion GDP — The arts and culture sector adds more than $1.75 billion annually to Manitoba’s economy — about the same as the commercial construction industry.
  • 10X return — For every $1 that the Manitoba Arts Council invests in organizations’ operations, $10 is generated from other sources. (MAC funding comes from the Province of Manitoba.)
  • The arts make Manitoba special — More than 90 per cent of Manitobans agree the arts celebrate the province’s unique cultural identity.
  • Arts and culture connect communities — 92% of Manitobans say the arts help us understand one another.
