1. General Principles
MAC does not use AI in any part of the grant application eligibility, assessment, or awards processes. Peer assessment is a human-led process based on assessment against published criteria. Peer assessors are prohibited from using AI tools in the entirety of the assessment process as stipulated in the confidentiality declaration they are required to sign.
Records and materials created and received by MAC are legislated by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). Any records and materials created and received by any third party hired by MAC (e.g. service providers, assessors) are also governed by FIPPA.
2. Application Process
MAC application processes are guided by these two key policies[1]:
- The named applicant is ultimately accountable for the complete contents of their application and the created works.
- Privacy, confidentiality, data security and the protection of intellectual property must be prioritized in the development and assessment of grant applications.
Applicants are encouraged to consult the FASTER[2] principles to reduce risks and ensure generative AI tools are used responsibly.
3. Assessment Process
If the proposed project involves the use of AI in the creation, curation, or dissemination of artistic work, applicants are asked to include the information within the project application to ensure privacy, ethical, and copyright issues are addressed.
MAC does not encourage or discourage the use of AI by applicants, and this information should not be considered as advantages or disadvantages when applications are assessed. These fields are for information purposes only.
The named applicant is ultimately accountable for the complete contents of their application and the created works.MAC will not be held responsible for the actions of MAC applicants or grantees with respect to their generating or using content by AI. Any bias, discrimination, improper usage, or copyright infringement resulting from AI usage are the responsibility of the client.
