Concert Hour Ballet
For over 40 years, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School’s groundbreaking Concert Hour Ballet performance series has sent senior students in our Professional Division across the prairies to share the power of dance with other school-aged children in schools and community spaces. What distinguishes this innovative program is its ability to foster meaningful relationships between young people, rooted in a mutual appreciation for the art form of dance.
A typical Concert Hour Ballet performance begins with a brief lecture demonstration that introduces the audience to the history of ballet, dance terminology, a dancer’s training and other interesting facets of the art form. This is followed by a fully staged and costumed narrated performance featuring between 18 and 20 professionally trained dancers. The programme includes classical and contemporary ballet selections, as well as modern and contemporary dance pieces and excerpts from the RWB repertoire.
Concert Hour Ballet is suitable for all ages and can be performed in most school gymnasiums. We bring our own lighting, sound and technical personnel and take care of all aspects of set-up and tear-down. An informative study guide as well as basic marketing materials are provided in advance of our visit.
