“Performances by DUO A LA CARTE sparkle! Heidi and Julie communicate a love of music, enjoyment in sharing in this with an audience, and a great sense of humour.” Julie Husband (woodwinds) and Heidi Peters (piano and percussion) began combining their wealth of knowledge and experience as music educators and professional performers in 1986.
The result is the highly acclaimed, exciting, innovative, energetic, extremely versatile, and funny DUO A LA CARTE. Julie performs regularly on the Winnipeg scene, from performances by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra to Rod Stewart, Rainbow Stage, and The Swing Cats. Julie currently teaches woodwind techniques at the U of M School of Music in addition to her other teaching responsibilities. Heidi’s many roles include teacher, performer, music consultant, publicist, researcher, guest speaker, adjudicator, and examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program.
Audiences are mesmerized by saxophones, flutes, clarinets, an oboe, a bassoon, a piano, and lots of cool musical toys, and only two, masterful, fun-loving musicians performing an eclectic selection of repertoire from classics to familiar contemporary.
But that’s not all! The stage becomes a lab as the mystery of the science of sound unfolds. The music and style of this educational presentation are suitable for all children of any age.
