New Residency Program: Brooklyn Visual Arts Residency at ISCP

The Brooklyn Visual Arts Residency supports professional, mid-career visual artists and curators from Manitoba to undertake a three-month residency in Brooklyn, New York, at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP).

The program will provide an opportunity for Manitoba’s mid-career visual artists and curators to participate in an international residency. Artists will take part in the programming and professional development offered by the ISCP including: an in-house community of artists and curators, providing international connections;professional conversations and critiques; visiting critics; field trips; salons and open studios; and community engagement in Brooklyn and Greater New York City through public programming. Theo Sims – 2015 Brooklyn Visual Arts Residency

Theo Sims is a visual artist whose installations often focus on the juxtapositioning of the familiar and the everyday with a contextual subversion. Theo’s projects play with space as a conceptual tool. Theo fuses wit and humour with the emotional, the ephemeral and the personal. Several of his recent activities as both artist and curator lend themselves to participatory projects or collaborations with other artists, curators, musicians, writers and even politicians.
