The Manitoba Arts Council has been hosting an annual professional development conference for artists who teach, called The Creative Road Conference. Artists have the opportunity to meet other artists who teach, participate in hands-on workshops, and attend demonstrations, lectures, and panel presentations. Although originally aimed at artists working in Artists in the Schools and ArtsSmarts, the conference is open to all professional artists who are interested in this exciting field.
Previous conferences have welcomed guest speakers such as Linda Albright, Deb Thordarson, Dr. Francine Morin, Marc Kuly, Joy Simpson, Allan Sutherland, Joe Halas, Brent Rosnowski, Lidi Kuiper, Buffy Handel, and Winston Wuttunee. The conferences have taken place at various locations around Winnipeg – MTYP, Marlborough Hotel, PTE, and Fort Gibraltar.
