Students in Grades K-8 worked with local artist Ralph Tanchak to create their own snow sculptures in groups. The students first made 2’ X 2’ snow blocks. While the snow was settling Ralph showed the students how to design in three dimensions, and then mould miniature sculptures in soap and plasticine. During the process all the students spent a day at Festival du Voyageur in St. Boniface, where they could view the snow sculptures made by artists from around the world, as well as Ralph’s own entry. It was a very successful project, and was written up in two articles in The Stonewall Teulon Tribune.
