Visual Arts and Film and Video

Marian Butler has worked in the arts for the past three decades and is known for her work as an interdisciplinary artist, curator and cultural administrator. She made Manitoba her home 20 years ago when the Royal Winnipeg Ballet hired her as their Tour Marketing Manager. She later went on to study at the University of Manitoba’s School of Art, followed by employment with The Winnipeg Film Group, CBC Radio, Video Pool Inc., Platform (formerly known as the Floating Gallery), Ace Art Inc, and seven years as MAWA’s Executive Director. Marian has been awarded grants from the Manitoba Arts Council, Winnipeg Arts Council and Canada Council as both an individual artist and on behalf of visual arts organizations, making her 2003 appointment as Program Consultant in the Visual Arts for the Manitoba Arts Council a natural transition.
