Associate Director of Granting Programs

David R. Scott is a Winnipeg-based freelance composer who has had a long association with the Manitoba Arts Council as both an artist and an administrator: he received his first MAC project grant in 1986, and the Major Arts Award in 2007. He was also MAC’s Music and Dance Officer between 1996 and 1999. In addition to composing, David has worked as an academic at the universities of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, as well as the Manitoba Conservatory of Music & Arts and Canadian Mennonite University. He has also done freelance work for CBC radio as a music producer, writer, arts reporter, technician and occasional host. He is a member of the Canadian League of Composers, an Associate of the Canadian Music Centre and was formerly one of the Artistic Co-Directors of the new music collective, GroundSwell. David has degrees from the universities of Manitoba and Alberta and received a Doctorate from the University of British Columbia in 2000.
