Kevin Lee Burton – 2011 Deep Bay Artists’ Residency

Kevin Lee Burton  is an award winning director, programmer and editor. He trained at the all Aboriginal Indigenous Independent Digital Filmmaking Program in North Vancouver, BC.  Kevin works in Cree, his ancestral language, and his films have been shown at the ImagineNATIVE Film Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival.  Kevin is Swampy Cree and originally from God’s Lake Narrows First Nation in Manitoba, Canada.

Kevin is completing a film script set in a landscape similar to Clear Lake where one of the characters is deceased.   He is exploring the possibility of evoking spirit in a film by using sound to create a tangible character.  Kevin’s residency will allow him to open his ears and become grounded into the calmness that is the tone and pacing of this story.
